beta...

The synths sound a little cheesy, except for the break up melody right after the drums in the first section. (W/e that defines lol) They all compile well together in the end. But the sound quality just needs an overall improvement.

I like the iconic intro that prolly eludes to the title "TechWreck" with its drone like decay to lowness death. :)

This would work well in a VG!

Stylist!

I really dig your style. I don't know why this received such a low rating...lemme boost it :)

Great work again. I am not sure if I could ever figure out how to copy some of the things you did with these synths.

You did some great IDM things with this song. Some very kool breakups-and like the previous commentor-the high hat was great. Some of the filterings were very kool. This song had a great pace and a nice use of engaging, different sounds.

(I might have to d/l for my CDs I burn to listen to while riding public transit, eww)

Killer.

The intro build up played out exactly how I demanded (hoped) for. If you wouldn't have came in with the beat like that I wouldn't have been happy. Nice goopy sound fx to add to the beat. The melodies are great! And I dig the fat gritty bazzline.

Nice work of "playing aroundness"

I need to check out some other junk then....

sounds.....

Hmmm, this sonds similar to stuff I have heard much before. I was worried it was another punk band of the new era until the song really began, which left me with a rememberance to DragonForce.

The sound quality in my opinion is not very good. But I hope that is due to MP3 compression, as it sounds like there was some engineering put into the overall sound-if only we could create a loss-less free compression system....

Anyway, this is a pretty good song, and by no means am I bashing it. I will continue to assume that the .wav format is everybit as dynamic and kick ass as this song should sound!

Also, I could never play like that (envious I am) I just use my compy :)

Reviewers! }:(

Reviewers! Please don't miss the point! Atleast I hope he trying to make the point that this is a relfection of the olden days!? Maybe it was a mistake-but I would suspect a song called Retro to contain cheesy old midi sounding synths and simple drum samples. On the matters of stereo, let us not forget that the original vinyl records were mono.

But, then again, maybe it was all a mistake.

A cool idea for this song tho:
Make the retro more purposefully oldschool (compress the hell out of it, mono, oldschool midi), and then when the voice comes in talking about following into the new millenium come in hard with stereo, ass-kickin' modern synths that will make ppl fall out of there chairs, stand up and dance!

Hats off to future hits!

Dj-Powerstorm responds:

Thnx for the review. I only named it retro because the main sequenc throughout the audio was called olden times. So i came up with another name. hence the name retro! Like the one below i don't knoiw whever to tak it as a complimanet or an insult!

Compressors?

This may be considered easy listening if it isn't trance-but definately not techno. I noticed that the arpeggiating synth seems to clip-or distort as it becomes to loud or resonant. Unfortunately that ruins the engaging build ups to me. Try using a compressor-or adding more compression-to this synth. By using this easy fix you can also push it out in front of everything else in the mix.

yea i didnt feel like using compressors. i wanted it raw. lol.

anyway, thanks for the review

Good Tribute!

It's been awhile since I have done one of these...

Nice track tho, amazing intro, sucked me right in. You should make a full version to add more content to it, otherwise this so far is a great mix of synths. Everything sounds right in place. I really like the bell type synth that fades in and out. And the bassline is really smooth.

The skratching isnt really that good, its quite basic, and hell, i just started with the shit, so wht else to expect? :) Really glad u liked it though! The girl is my roommate, and swhe sings good too. Gonna have to get her to sing on my songs when i come home :)
Really glad you liked this song and like my stuff, man!! makes me happy inside :D

...a mcawsome? for me? good, im fucking hungry!...

And again...

Once again this woudl be a great VG track but you need to improve the final mix of the song. Those drums and bass are just not pushin the audio along like they should. The synths and instruments are greatly notated tho. Great peice here, but it has much room for improvement on the technical side.
